Mum suggests cooking Christmas dinner the night before and it's dividing opinion

Like it or not, the countdown to Christmas is officially on and there's just 67 sleeps to go until the big day.

A radio station playing nothing but Christmas songs has already been live for more than a month to get you into the festive spirit - and as it's likely there will be little else to look forward to this year, it's time to embrace it.

And although Christmas could look very different for a lot of families this time round, with uncertainty as to how coronavirus restrictions will look, present buying and plans for the big day are still underway for most of us.

One mum who is considering a change to her Christmas Day schedule has sparked a fierce debate after sharing the idea on social media.

She asked on Facebook : "Looking for folks opinion on eating the BIG Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve...is this a thing?

Some argued that it's no more stressful than cooking a Sunday roast (Getty Images)

"Just feel I miss out on spending quality time with my children on the special day cause I'm always so busy in the kitchen."

It divided opinion, with some saying Christmas lunch was the highlight of the big day, while others argued they eat the night before and it takes all the stress out of the celebrations, as reported by The Sun.

One person replied to say: "In my opinion one of the best things about Christmas day is cooking the meal."

A second asked: "It's just a Sunday roast. Why does it take so long?"

But others approved the idea, as someone else revealed: "We've been doing it for years, it's the best thing we ever decided to do."

Another said: "We have ours on Christmas Eve then watch a Christmas film and relax. Christmas Day is much less stressful for me as I don't spend lots of time in the kitchen and we can go and visit family without clock watching."

A third added: "We usually get a takeaway."
