Mum stabbed to death by former partner before he was mowed down by 'hero' driver

A mum was stabbed to death in the street by her former partner, before he was mowed down and killed by a "hero" driver in horrifying scenes.

Yasmin Chkaifi tragically died at the scene on January 24 after her former partner Leon Mccaskie, 41, is alleged to have repeatedly stabbed her with a kitchen knife.

A "hero" driver then ran down and "killed knife-wielding Mccaskie in a desperate attempt" to save Yasmin, as reported by Hull Live.

Both Yasmin, known by her loved ones as Wafah and Mccaskie ended up underneath the car in Maida Vale, London, and died from their injuries.

Friends, family and shocked neighbours gathered to pay tribute to Wafah on January 25.

One of her two sons was among the mourners.

He said: ”Everyone who knew my mum knows she was a good woman. She didn’t deserve this. Keep her in your prayers.”

Yasmin's heartbroken aunt revealed that her mother has been rushed to hospital after being so upset about her daughter's tragic death.

She said: "She had a heart of gold, and was so so beautiful. I am broken hearted, she never hated anyone and had so many friends from all different backgrounds."

The aunt said that the victim was studying at university and also worked at a school.

Her children are 16 and 18.

According to Mail Online reports, Yasmin's son, who asked not to be named, accused Scotland Yard of “doing nothing” to help his mum, despite repeated warnings about Mccaskie.

“It was a very abusive relationship which got worse after the divorce. My mother was continually being harassed and intimidated by this man. He made her life hell,” the son said.

He added: “I was always in touch with the police but they did nothing to help here. There was even a panic alarm installed in our flat – that's how scared she was of this man. He was a monster.”

Yasmin's family told the Mirror they want "justice" for the 43-year-old's death.

They claim Mccaskie was well known to police, describing him as an "abusive monster".

They added that the man allegedly responsible for his death has their thanks and say he shouldn't be sent to prison.

Wafah's brother said: "How many more women's lives have to be taken away. Another slips through the net.

Responding to the allegation, the Met Police said: 'A Stalking Prevention Order had been obtained against the deceased man, as a matter of course there will be a review by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards NPTD further.
