Mum spots baby balanced on woman's lap in moving car with no seatbelt

A mum was outraged after spotting a child sitting on the lap of a woman in the passenger seat of a moving car.

Emma Nix was so enraged that she filmed the reckless behaviour and shared the footage on social media.

She hoped that the video would highlight the dangers of driving with a baby not in a car seat , which is illegal.

Ms Nix, from Lincoln, said: "It made me angry.  As a mother-of-six I could never imagine putting a child in danger.

"My first thought was if they had an accident, which happens a lot around the beach, the poor baby wouldn't stand a chance."

Ms Nix saw the car at the traffic lights outside the Planet Fun arcade in Ingoldmells, Lincolnshire, at just after 1pm on Saturday, April 20, Lincolnshire Live reports.

Simple car seat trick that takes two minutes but could save a child's life

She received a wave of criticism on social media after uploading the footage, with some claiming she was 'mum shaming' and 'grassing'.

Emma responded to this by arguing that she would rather be called 'a grass' than live with the knowledge that 'a child died in an accident because the parents couldn't be bothered to strap the child into a car seat'.

Some people rallied to her defence online and said she was raising an important safety issue.

One social media user wrote: "No-one likes to get into accidents where children are killed by silly choices."

The Highway Code requires children under three to be properly restrained in the front or rear of a moving car.

Drivers who break the law can be fined up to £500.
