Mum speaks out during anxious wait for coronavirus results as toddler daughter rushed to hospital

A mum has spoken out after her her toddler was rushed to hospital after being struck down with suspected coronavirus.

Hannah Payne is expecting to find out the results today after little Evelyn underwent a Covid-19 test.

The family's nightmare began when the 19-month-old fell desperately ill with a fever earlier this week.

The tot was taken to hospital for the fourth time on Wednesday where she remained overnight after her oxygen levels dropped dangerously low.

Now Hannah, from Congleton, Staffordshire, has shared details of her terrifying experience as she waits to find out if Evelyn is one of the youngest people in the UK to be hit with the virus.

She said: "On Tuesday she was rushed into hospital again and sent home. At this point she had still not been tested for coronavirus, so was treated as a maybe. However, she was diagnosed with tonsillitis and pneumonia.

"A district nurse was sent out to us the next morning as a follow up and we had to go back to the hospital as her oxygen levels were too low.

"She was kept in overnight as she had not shown any improvement all day and has now also been tested for coronavirus.

"We are expecting the results today.

"She is on oxygen now and I was tasked with keeping the mask close to her mouth all night. It's been an exhausting few days."

In an earlier post, Hannah had urged people in her home town to take the illness seriously - and stay indoors.

She added: "Will everyone please stay at home and stop spreading this thing.

"We are waiting on an ambulance again because my daughter is only getting worse.

"She's not over 70, nor does she have any underlying health conditions but her little body is exhausted trying to fight this.

"I hear that Astbury Mere was busier than it is in the middle of summer. There are kids hanging around in groups on the streets in our town. Why are people being so ridiculously stupid?

"We are being asked to stay in our homes and have no visitors - not even family

"We have no idea who is carrying coronavirus until the symptoms show up.

"Parents, tell your kids to stop hanging out with their friends at this time, and you lead by example.

"If you don’t stay at home, you could be making people seriously will and it’s not a joke. Or maybe you or your children will get it as bad as my daughter has and then you’ll wish you’d listened.

"The longer we ignore what we have been asked to do, the longer this will go on for."
