Mum sparks outrage after asking people on Facebook live to 'babysit' her kids

A mum has sparked a fierce debate after she supposedly set up a Facebook live to 'babysit' her kids.

The mum went live on the social media platform whilst her three children sat watching what appears to be a television so she could go and smoke a cigarette, with the help of her followers keeping an eye on them.

It was captioned: "Can y’all watch them while I go smoke?"

The live stream quickly racked up more than 6,000 viewers who were quick to boss the three children around while their mum was away - and from the comments, they seemed to be taking the job very seriously as they told the children what to do.

They were pretty strict (Facebook)

One person wrote: "Get down," referring to the little girl sat on the edge of the table.

Whilst another person wrote: "Stop playing on that damn couch."

Try as they might, the children didn't seem to be taking any notice of the viewers' instructions.

It's since been shared to a Reddit subforum r/Trashy, where it quickly racked up more than 1,700 upvotes and dozens of comments from users.

One wrote: "Digital babysitting, hmm," to which someone else joked: "It's the future."

A third person also put: "Holy s***!"

And: "I really hope this was a joke or something because the live chat actually seems to be acting mature and not trying to troll the streamer. A rare sight for sure," wrote someone else.

But one person defended the woman, writing: "Yeah I don’t think it’s trashy; it’s funny. Parents need a break."

What do you think of the mum's idea to go live ? Let us know in the comments.
