Mum sparks fierce debate with creative 'Easter egg' lunchbox for her daughter

A mum divided opinions online after she shared a picture of her daughter's Easter-themed lunch.

The Australian mum-of-two wanted to make her six-year-old an exciting lunch for the last day of term before the Easter break.

So, she purchased two dozen colourful Easter egg shells and filled them with various snacks like crackers, boiled eggs, cheese, blueberries, grapes, cucumber, salami, a single Cadbury chocolate egg and more.

She then sealed all of the eggs and popped them into her daughter's lunchbox, thrilled at the thought of her daughter opening it at school.

Feeling pretty chuffed with the end result, she shared a snap of the lunchbox on the Facebook group Lunchbox Ideas Australia - but she wasn't expecting it to spark a fierce debate.

"An Easter themed lunch for my six-year-old for her last day of term tomorrow! I so wish I could watch her face when she opens up her lunchbox!" she wrote online.

Since being uploaded, the post has racked up more than 2,500 likes and hundreds of comments.

But whilst many parents flooded her with praise for the inventive idea, a few people thought she was making the lunch for her own benefit, rather than her daughter's.

One person said: "Hands down the coolest mum move out there! Stealing this!" reports Daily Mail.

Another said they loved how much effort she put into making her daughters lunch.

Whilst a third person put: "Let’s be honest it was only done so the mum got credit, nothing to do with kids," added The Sun.

A couple of people also said the fun meal could upset other children at school.

But one mum who disagreed, replied: "I think this is just delightful! For those saying that other kids would be upset they don’t have the same, are we not teaching resilience in our little ones?

"My kids would come home and talk about the awesome lunch that another super-lucky kid had! They wouldn’t think they should’ve had it too or that they had missed out. "
