If you're going to a wedding, there's an unwritten dress code that subtly states white is best avoided, as you definitely don't want to undercut the bride and make her look less special on her big day.
There are so many different colours and patterns to choose from, so there's no need to wear something that even vaguely resembles a wedding dress.
A woman sparked a huge debate on forum Mumsnet, however, when she shared a dress that she wanted to wear to a pal's wedding - but some people thought it was totally inappropriate and she should reconsider.

The woman posted: "Another 'is this too white for a wedding thread", stating that the dress is "definitely not bridal, but it does have a white background."
The gorgeous dress from Reformation boats a romantic blue pattern, lovely midi length and is linen, so would feel effortless to wear - but some said it wasn't right for a wedding due to the white background.
Others who claimed they would normally "err on the side of caution", thought the dress was fine, especially with the shoes and cardigan they'd chosen to accompany the ensemble.
"Beautiful dress, not a problem at all", one gushed.
Another said: "It's beautiful and absolutely fine. I like the shoes too. I wore a white and grey dress to a wedding, didn't even think, no one talked about me!"
"The first dress is lovely", a Mumsnetter said, "but coupled with a cardy and espadrilles it could look a bit casual for a church wedding."
Someone wrote: "Wasn't there a wedding photographer on here recently saying that even though some dresses don't look bride-ish enough to p*** off the newlyweds it's difficult balancing so much white elsewhere in a photo?
"Regardless, I've always been taught if you have to ask then yes, it is too white."
