When it comes to parenting, everyone has their own ideas about what's best for their child. You know, breastfeeding or formula, attachment parenting or authoritarian, that kind of thing.
However, one mum has sparked controversy after revealing she doesn't put sunscreen on her baby because of all the chemicals.
TikToker Alice Bender, who is known for her holistic approach to parenting, left others divided when she suggested that putting sun cream on her baby would be more likely to lead to cancer.
When questioned by a follower what cream she uses on her nine-month-old son Fern, the 22-year-old responded: "None. Most sunscreen contains harsh chemicals. Harsh chemicals + sun = cancer."
Of course, this goes against NHS advice which states that babies above the age of six months should wear SPF30 sunscreen to protect them from the sun's harmful rays.
However, this isn't the first time Alice has opened up about her potentially controversial parenting methods, having previously defended allowing her son to eat dirt and chew on rocks, based on the fact he's breastfed.
"I do not fear bacteria. In fact, I welcome it. I trust nature and my baby. It is not a coincidence babies have this instinct while they are breastfeeding," she explained.
"Babies only have this instinct while they are breastfeeding for a reason. Our milk is there to protect them while they build their immune system. Breast milk is incredible. Breast milk is the original medicine. It is far superior to any man-made medicine. Breast milk is alive and constantly changing to meet our babies' current needs."
She even went as far as describing babies' cribs as 'little baby jail cells,' explaining that children's rooms after often designed for adults rather than for the children themselves.
"We literally buy these little baby jail cells so that we can just leave our baby in there and walk away," she said.
"I don't have a crib because I will never enforce my baby to have a bedtime. Babies are people too, and forcing anyone to sleep when they're not tired is inhumane."
