A mum who says she "needs a break" has defended herself against cruel trolls who criticised her for sending her son to nursery "too early".
Chloe Haycock posted a video online explaining her 18-month-old son, Chester, had a taster session at a nursery ahead of him attending more frequently. She also said she had sat with him to make sure he was settled at first before "sneaking off" to let him explore the nursery on his own.
And even though she showed her son looking "excited" and said he was "absolutely fine" during his visit, nasty trolls still took to the comments to accuse Chloe of doing the wrong thing by sending him to nursery "so young". One person had written on the video posted to the mum's @chloehaycock_ account on TikTok: "Sending him to nursery so young when you don't have a proper job or nothing. Poor boy he is."
And in response to the comment, the Mirror reports that Chloe made a follow-up video in which she said she deserves to have a break and insisted she would be returning to her office job soon. The mum - who is currently pregnant and also has two step-children - said to her son in the clip: "You poor boy. Mummy's so cruel isn't she, going to nursery so you can socialise and play with those children all day? How cruel am I?"
She then continued: "How about poor freaking mama? I need a break, too, plus, I'm going back to the office." Chloe didn't hold back in the video's caption either, as she made it clear that she isn't fazed by the negativity some people leave on her social media accounts.
She wrote: "These people make me laugh. They don’t offend me at all, so don’t worry guys. I address it because I find their comments funny."
The majority of commenters on Chloe's follow-up video were firmly on her side, with other mums relating to her need for a break, and even nursery workers insisting it's actually beneficial for kids to start attending early.
One person said: "Being home with a baby is stressful! Mentally and physically draining! Normalise parents having a break. Smashing it Chloe." As another wrote: "Nursery worker here. It's extremely beneficial for them to start young, it builds relationships and helps support routine! It's also good for parents."
While a third added: "My baby started nursery at 8 months old because I went back to work. He loved it and is an extremely social baby." What a horrific comment," a fourth exclaimed, "NO ONE needs to justify what they do with their children!"
