A mum has been slammed for her daughter's unusual name - with some parents even saying it sounds like it belongs to a porn star.
The mum took to Mumsnet to share her desired choice of a first name for her baby girl - but left other mums unimpressed after revealing her choice was 'Velvet'.
She wrote: "Velvet. Someone just told me this was on their shortlist. I love it, I want it... I can't can I?"

But the thread soon filled up with parents telling the mum that deciding to name her child after fabric was "ridiculous.", BirminghamLive reports.
One user said: "It's not a girls name, it's a fabric. Like acrylic, viscose and nylon" while another said, "No. It's quite ridiculous"
Another commented: "It does sound more like a pet's name than a child's. Like a tiny wee baby rabbit."
"No. I really don't think you can. Could you call it out in the supermarket without feeling self conscious?" another asked.
One parent didn't mix her words, writing on the widely used parenting forum: "It sounds like a porn star name, sorry."
However some mums defended her unusual choice.
One said: "Yes it's the name of a fabric but that doesn't matter does it, names need to have meaning beyond the name. Leo means lion, Gordon means triangular hill..."
According to baby name website Nameberry, Velvet has been recorded as a name since the 1960s, and is currently ranked at number 1443 in popularity.
