Mum slammed for throwing seven-year-old daughter a 'diabetes birthday party'

As a parent, you're going to want to celebrate your child's birthday each year with a bang, after all it's a pretty memorable day for you and your child.

Some will throw their little ones parties, others will shower them with gifts while some spend some quality time together.

One mum tried really hard to make sure her daughter's seventh birthday party was a really fun experience for all invited.

But she's come under fire from fellow parents for her choice of food for the event.

She revealed the massive party spread on Facebook (Facebook)

Mum's 'aggressive' list of pantry rules slammed by outraged fellow parents

In a post in the Heil's Kitchen Facebook group, the mum from Ratana in New Zealand, shared a photo of the spread she'd laid out for her child's friends and family.

It featured a range of fast food items - including six KFC buckets, 10 pizzas, 20 McDonald's cheese burgers and 20 cans of fizzy drinks as well as sweets and chocolate.

Alongside the photo, she wrote in Maori: "My girl's 7th birthday party. Kentucky chicken, cheeseburgers, Thai food, pizza."

She then added that it was "not a healthy diet".

Despite her acknowledgement that the food wasn't good for the kids, other parents still felt the need to troll her over the photo.

One man branded it a "diabetes birthday".

Another joked: "Happy birthday, we got you a heart attack."

A third added seriously: "New Zealand has a massive obesity problem and this is not helping. No seven year old needs food like this."

But not everyone was against the mum's party food, with some defending her choices.

"Some of you need to chill," wrote a fellow parent. "I mean, it's one day? Not every single day of their entire lives."

Another user commented: "Might have to do this for my birthday. All that food looks good."
