A savvy mum has revealed how she transformed her garden for just £40 - simply by giving her old furniture a revamp.
36-year-old hairdresser Leanne Oliver got scammed when buying furniture online, so was on a strict budget when it came to giving her garden a makeover. With the new set of garden furniture she had her eye on costing over £1,500, Leanne decided to get creative and opted to give her old furniture a new lease of life instead.
As reported by LatestDeals, Leanne shared her tips in the money-saving Facebook group, DIY On A Budget UK. She said: "I got scammed buying new furniture online so I was on a tight budget.

"My garden furniture was originally purchased from JYSK - I'd had it for years and it was in a sorry state. I thought I'd paint my old furniture. My mum said it will never work as it's flexible and will start to chip off."

Undeterred, Leanne decided to give it a go and painted her furniture - with a little help from her son. She said: "Knowing I had nothing to lose, I went ahead and used two tins of Frenchic Al Fresco in Swanky Pants.
"I cleaned it up first and pressed the paint into the crevices with the brush. The furniture was scrubbed by me and my six-year-old son with Fairy liquid. He helped paint it with me.
"We basically threw the paint on with no technique really, apart from pushing it into the holes between the wicker. I put it in my friend's garden for a few weeks while we had work done in the garden which gave it a good time to cure.

Overall, Leanne couldn't be happier with the final result of her garden makeover, which saved her over £1,500. She said: "It's going great and is being used daily by our family of five and pets, with no chips yet. Everyone has commented on how great it looks.
"Originally I was looking at buying a new set for £1,599.99, but this only cost me £40: £20 for each tin of paint. I feel very accomplished - it definitely looks more modern than the dark brown!"
