Mum shares two minute 'genius' hack for making playpen out of a bedsheet

One savvy mum came up with an idea to fashion a playpen for kids and pets out of a bedsheet, and others online have been quick to call the hack "genius".

The woman was able to stretch out an old sheet and hold it in place using four boxes in each corner. This creates a distinct play area with a 'wall' that should in theory prevent babies and small animals from getting out.

Posting on the Cleaning tips and tricks Facebook group, she shared photos of the playpen in action — in which a young baby can be seen crawling around. In another photo, the idea has been adapted for use on the beach, with bags in each corner instead of boxes.

Alongside the photos, the mum wrote: "Create a perfect playpen using a fitted sheet". Before long, the post has attracted more than 1,700 likes and almost 850 comments.

One said: "What a great idea. Can do this for puppies and kittens too for first few weeks."

"What a great idea," a second wrote.

A third shared: "Need to take a couple of sheets on holiday for the kids!"

"How clever is that," posted a fourth.

"This is genius, a fifth echoed."

"Ingenious," agreed a sixth.

A seventh commented: "This is brilliant, thank you for sharing".

"This is a fabulous idea for the beach," stated an eighth.

"Great idea for the beach days," a ninth concurred.

However, not all members of the group were sold on the hack. Some stated that it would not hold up under much resistance from young children or pets.

One shared: "I think it looks really good but even as a little little one my daughter would have busted out of there so quick she was never okay with being contained".

A second echoed: "It looks nice and that, but for a baby that you’d really need to keep “in” something like this. Well they just wouldn’t! They’d tip the boxes straight over and game over, they’d also just climb or roll straight through the sides?"

"Till baby tries getting out of it," agreed a third.

A fourth said: "My kids would just a box from the corner and the whole thing would epic fail".
