Many of us spent last year’s lockdown amid the Covid-19 pandemic learning a new skill or completing DIY jobs around our homes to pass the time.
And one woman has showcased the impressive work she did to bring a splash of colour to her property – all while keeping her costs below £10.
Heidi Pettitt, 44, began hand-painting the walls of her home in Walsall, West Midlands, back in March 2020 and managed to keep her outgoings low by sticking to one game-changing hack.
Instead of buying large tins of paint to colour each wall, Heidi used leftovers and tester pots to create patterns on top of her existing white walls.

The mum-of-three, who works for the housing association, began by painting a rainbow in her kitchen and her designs now include a jungle-themed conservatory and a bright pink bathroom.
She said: "The lockdown gave me the freedom to do stuff as I suddenly had lots of spare time on my hands.
"The pandemic made me realise life is too short, so I decided to do what makes me happy.
"From the carpets to the ceiling - everything in my home was magnolia which is my least favourite colour.

"I decided to use my imagination and add a splash of colour to my house.”
By using leftovers and testers, which are often free, Heidi spent less than £10 on the entire renovation.
She added: "It wasn't expensive as I had some leftover paint in the house already. Or I used testers that are either free or very cheap.
"And the colours I like are always in a bargain bucket as other people don't want them.

"Every room in my house has been painted for less than £10."
And after finishing the paint jobs, Heidi couldn’t be happier with the end result.
She said: "The colours instantly change my mood to happy. Having a bright home is very lifting.
"My favourite is my 70s inspired living room, and the music room which is bright and has a swan coming out of the fireplace.
"I call that the grown-up room as it's not quite so mad. It is a relaxing room with a bright yellow wall."
