Mum shares sock trick for cleaning off sand at the end of a day on the beach

As the summer weather finally begins to set in with a heatwave set to hit Brits this week, many of us will be spending our evenings and weekends soaking up the sun - maybe even with a trip to the beach.

And if you're lucky enough to live near a sandy beach, you'll know that while the coast is great for relaxing on, it can be a real nightmare when it comes to cleaning up, as you'll be brushing sand off your legs for days afterwards.

But thanks to one mum on TikTok, you no longer need to fight against the sand, as she's come up with the perfect hack to make sure your wipe down at the end of the day gets rid of every last grain.

Lauren Clutter said that baby powder is known to aid in the removal of sand from the body, but noted that using it while on the beach can still be messy, especially if there's a breeze in the air.

So to make life easier, the mum - who posts under the username @lauren.clutter - revealed her hack is to pour the power into a sock, which you can then use to wipe over your body to clean off any sand.

The small holes in the fabric of the sock will allow power to pass through, but won't cause the same mess that using the powder on its own might.

In her video, she said: "One of the mum hacks that I think we all know is that you can use baby powder to remove sand when you're cleaning up after the beach - but it gets really messy.

"So, did you know that you can actually put that baby powder inside a sock? That's going to contain it and you can just rub the sock all over to remove the sand."

Commenters on the video were split over the hack, as some praised the mum for her innovative idea, and others said it seemed like a waste of time when sand can be washed off with water or brushed off without baby powder.

One person said: "I didn't know any of this, this will change my life. Thank you!"

As another added: "Thank you! I have three kids and solo beach trips just got so much easier."

But someone else disagreed, stating: "Just brush the sand off or wash it off."

"Or, you could just let their feet dry and the sand will fall away", a fourth wrote.
