Mum shares quick and easy hacks to dry clothes even when it’s cold outside

The winter period can be a tricky time to dry your laundry as the lack of warmth can often keep your clothes wet for hours on end.

And as the cost of living crisis continues to bite, many Brits are holding off on using their heating, making it an even more difficult task.

But one mum has taken to TikTok to share a quick and easy clothes drying hack for the winter period.

The woman, who runs The Only Way is Pink TikTok page to share her top tips, said: "My mum's always said to me, 'If the path's dry, the washing will dry'.

"So if you can get it out on the line, do."

She advised viewers to do an extra spin in the machine (@theonlywayispink/TikTok)

While Brits will be turning to airers instead of tumble dryers to save some cash this winter, the mum said it’s important where you put it.

She said: "If you're going to use an airer, put it out near a window or a door, where there's sunlight.

"And don't overload them. I always try and hang things over two bars to let the air circulate."

The woman also swears by damp traps to help take the moisture out of the air while drying her laundry.

She said: "They're cheap enough to buy in most places, and they will suck all the moisture out of the air while you dry clothes indoors."

Of course, always be sure to put your airer in well-ventilated room to avoid damp and mould.

In the video, the woman showed how she makes full use of her landing by putting one side of the airer on the top of the bannister, and the other on the windowsill.

"This is another hack for me," she added.

"You know, heat rises - so your clothes dry faster if you can do this."

Impressed TikTok users took to the comments to praise the mum, with one saying she hadn’t even thought to put an extra spin on her wash.

The user said: “Why didn’t I think about the extra spin!!! Thank you - I will try this as it’s only an extra 11 mins on my washing machine”

Another added: "Great post, thank you for your advice."

"I hang little airers over the doors. Definitely going to buy some damp traps.", a third commented.
