Mum shares pumpkin carving hack that saves mess and time - and parents say it's a game-changer

A mum has shared a pumpkin carving hack that will save time, effort and mess - and parents are hailing it as "a game changer".

The mum shared the tip on social media after becoming fed-up of the slimey, messy work involved in gutting pumpkins at Halloween.

She told parents after carving the lid off the top of your pumpkin, they should use a handheld whisk to easily remove the inside and save themselves the hardwork of scooping it out manually.

Posting on the Family Lockdown Tips and Ideas Facebook page, she said: "I feel I need to pass on this Halloween pumpkin hack: once you have cut the top off get a hand mixer (with one or 2 whisks on it as both work) and use this to detach all the insides of the pumpkin...take the whisks right to the edge of the pumpkin so it scrapes the bits off then just scoop out the insides that are now all mush. It took me 5 minutes to do the inside of a pumpkin."

The post received almost 2,000 comments from fellow parents who were impressed at the game changing idea.

One said: "You absolute genius!!! How have I never done this?? Thank you."

Another said: "I wish I’d seen this on Sunday morning! Took me an hour to scoop the insides out of 2 monster pumpkins."

"Game changer," added another.

One mum-of-six said her hands always get sore carving pumpkins but the tip had "saved her life".

She said: "You’ve saved my life I have 6 to carve as I have 6 little terrors and my hands which are dry always get so sore."

Ta-da! Empty and cleaned out. (Facebook)

Another echoed those thoughts, saying: "Oh wow, where have you been all my life. I love you right now, can’t wait to do this instead of the usual scrapping with a spoon, which always gets let to me because my four say their arms hurt."

Although, not everyone was impressed. One man said he was concerned about the washing up: "Not to be that guy, but does it really take that long to scoop out the inside with a spoon? This way, you don't have to find whisk and all its parts and then wash it also?"
