Mum shares 'miracle' washing machine cleaning trick that costs under £2

Social media is full of handy tips to keep your home as clean as a whistle.

Some of the best places to find these home hacks are Facebook groups inspired by Essex cleaning guru Mrs Hinch.

On one group, a woman recently posted impressive before-and-after photos of her washing machine drawer.

Her post came after giving it a deep clean - and the sparkling finish got plenty of people talking.

But the miracle product she used is cheaper than you might think, BirminghamLive reports.

The mum rinsed the drawer with Fairy Platinum washing up liquid, she revealed.

She then used an old toothbrush to finely clean the mould away.

"I used bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar to remove all odours and smells," the woman said.

The mum concluded the miracle transformation by using 75p Astonish Mould and Mildew spray.

Fairy Platinum can be picked up for as little as £1 from supermarkets - meaning the entire process comes in at under £2.

The mum advised keen cleaners to soak their drawers in hot water, before turning on the washing machine to remove any lasting bits of mould.

And other cleaning fans were quick to praise the trick.

One said: "Wow, great job! Mine looks like your before photo."

"On my list to do this week," another woman replied.

A good way to make a tough task look easy.
