Mum shares 'life-changing' hack to make fresh strawberries last for weeks

A mum has shared a 'life-changing' hack that makes fresh strawberries last for weeks. The woman claims that the neat storage trick keeps the fruit fresh for up to two weeks, reports the Mirror.

She took to social media to share the unique trick that she recently discovered for the berries. In a TikTok video, the mother explains that all you need to do is simply store your strawberries in a jar before popping them in the fridge.

The woman says she was stunned that she hadn't learned of the trick sooner as it would have saved her so much money. She said: "Who was going to tell me that if you store strawberries in jars, you don't have to sacrifice half of them to the strawberry gods?

"They last. They don't go bad. They stay good. You don't have to throw half of them away.

The woman was delighted to learn the tip (@tinytonics/TikTok)

"I wasted so many strawberries because nobody told me." The mother praised another social media user for enlightening her on the storage tip.

She added: "You've changed my life. They last like two weeks and they're all good."

The woman's strawberry solution was quick to stir up conversation on social media, with people keen to give their thoughts. Many people were also unaware of the top tip.

One person said: "Nobody told me. Another added: "Currently eating week old strawberries straight from my glass jar. So, so fresh still.

"I learnt also from this app." Meanwhile, other people were quick to share their own storage tips.

One person said: "Just rinse them in vinegar and water solution and they last more than 2 weeks." Another agreed stating: "Bowl of water, glug of vinegar.

"Soak for 10 min, rinse the berries, air dry on a dish towel. THEN jar them!"

However, others offered warnings for jarring fruit and veg in the fridge. One person said: "Careful though, it does help them last longer, but then they start to ferment."

Someone else recommended: "Just a heads up don't do this to broccoli. I nearly lost an eye when that lid popped off."
