Mum shares incredible hack that will clean those black marks off your iron - using just paracetamol and tweezers

A mum has shared an amazing cleaning hack for getting stubborn black burn marks off your iron.

The woman feared she might need to throw her iron in the bin after accidentally sticking the too-hot plate to her son's school trousers.

After trying fruitlessly to scrub the marks off, the mum took to Facebook to ask fellow cleaning addicts for advice - and some told her to try an unusual method of rubbing a paracetamol on the black marks.

After trying it the mum's iron looked as-good-as-new and she came back to the Zoflora Addicts page to thank her fellow cleaning enthusiasts.

She said: "I can’t Thankyou you all enough. Well it does bloody work. I can’t believe it does. Like new.

"Thankyou again. And for those that asked why it was so dirty, I forgot to turn down the iron when ironed my sons school trousers. And for those who said bin it, it’s like new.

"I plugged the iron in on medium for a few minutes until hot then I unplugged it and held the paracetamol with my tweezers and rub it over the burnt bit and it goes all sludgy and then wipe off.

"Kept turning the iron on and off until it was all gone. Genius. "

And her fellow cleaning fans agreed the tip was amazing. One said: "Iron....paracetamol...tweezers. looks like a messy night out and I'm wanting to know how!"

Another said: "I had this happen to my iron too and I bought a new one. Will try this trick on the old one as I never threw it out. Perhaps I'll have 2 perfect irons now."

The post got hundreds of likes and comments (Facebook)

"I like to play the iron is lava. Hold the paracetamol and rub on the iron for as long as you can before you burn your fingers," said another.

"That’s fab! I’ve got a mark on mine from ironing over a logo on a T-shirt! It burnt on the iron plate! I’ll try it!," said a fourth.

A fifth added: "I want to know who originally thought 'I know what, I’ll rub a paracetamol on it’ & it actually work! Such a handy little tip to know. Thanks for sharing"
