Mum shares 'genius' £2 hack to get your white clothes looking good as new again

The mum claims that the cheap and cheerful hack has removed stains from her grubby whites - and the random product is widely available everywhere.

Ashley Baxter, from Scotland, shared her clever tip on Facebook where it was shared by other parents who swore they were going to try the quick and easy anti-stain trick for themselves.

Ashley shared how she’d previously struggled with stains in the past, but found that the £2.35 solution used to sterilise baby bottles, Milton Sterilising Fluid, left her whites positively sparkling.

She shared an anecdote about how she tried to remove a stain out of her daughter’s school shirt, but it wasn’t working, so out of desperation she tried out a cleaning tip she saw on a Mrs Hinch fan page - and it worked.

The tip has been branded 'genius' (stock photo) (Milton)

She wrote: "OK so I'm slightly embarrassed to post this, but!!

"As little kids explore, spill foods, paints etc, I saw a tip on Mrs Hinch page about Milton steriliser fluid, (Mrs H hasn't done this, I tried it after seeing on a fan page it takes stains out)."

Thankfully, Ashley had some to hand already and so she decided to give it a go - the product is actually a mild form of bleach, which is why it seems to work so well.

The mum posted before and after pictures where the shirt is visibly much whiter, saving her some serious money on a new school shirt.

Ashley added: "I'm about to go do all her shirts and white tops now.

"Although it hasn't taken the permanent marker off it'll be fine under a dress."

After trying and testing the tip out for herself, it was reshared on social media over 15,000 times - and people were quick to ask for the method behind the madness.

Ashley later updated her post with more details, writing: "1 part Milton 3 part water in a large mixing bowl with boiling water.

"Soak for 2 hours then wash on a white wash.”

The tip is simple but seriously effective, and people were praising the cleaning method after they tried it for themselves.

One person commented: “I do this with my shower curtain too. It’s amazing.”

Another desperately wanted to try the hack, writing: “I’ll be buying a bottle of that stuff!”

At just £2.35, it’s well worth a try if you want your clothes to sparkle again and you’re struggling to get grubby marks out of your precious whites.
