Mum shares foolproof way to clean your microwave without using cleaning products

When it comes to doing chores around the house, cleaning our microwaves tops our list of things we need to do that we tend to avoid.

If you've been putting the job on the back burner for a while now, it's likely you've got a build-up of old, crispy food, which is a right pain to scrub off - and the awkward angles don't help the matter either.

While your first thought may be to bring out the big guns - the strongest cleaning products you own - to get it done as quickly as possible, hold on, RSVP Live has a handy tip for you.

A savvy woman has shared what products she uses to get her microwave sparking clean - and you already have them in your cupboard.

Joan Walsh from Westport revealed that all you need is a container, some water and some vinegar.

Joan explained: "Get a microwave safe jug or bowl of water and fill it halfway up with water, then add a tablespoon of white vinegar.

"Microwave for about five minutes. The water will steam up and soften any burnt on or dried up food, so it can easily be wiped away.

"I do it all the time, it works really well."

Now that your microwave is gleaming, it's time to tackle the crusty food harbouring in your oven.

A savvy mum has revealed just how quick and easy it is to clean your oven without having to scrub it at all - and all you need is tin foil and a dishwasher tablet.

The woman starts by removing the wire shelves from the oven and covering them in foil.

Before popping them in a bath and filling it with hot water - just enough so that they're submerged.

Then she adds a dishwasher tablet to the bath and leaves them to soak for two hours.

Once the time is up take them out and you'll be shocked by how clean they are - it's clear why it has been dubbed "life-changing."
