Many of us have done it, and put a pouch of rice in the microwave and prayed that it stays upright.
But inevitably it doesn't, and you're left scooping out the excess that's spilled all over the plate.
But as the Manchester Evening News reports , one mum has found a solution to the problem - and it was under our noses all along.
You see the pouches come with pull out bits at the bottom, which let you separate the packet so it has a flat surface to stand on. I kid you not.
The mum-of-two shared a picture showing just that and it's quickly gone viral.
In it, she said: "So I’ve just discovered this!! Anyone that uses microwave rice and gets p***ed off that it falls down in the microwave look! Magic tabs! You’re welcome."
Her post has received hundreds of comments and shares in the last few days, with many people shocked by the revelation.
While some said: No way", others described it as a 'game changer' and 'life changing'.
Sara Smith said: "Who’d have thought it was so simple, all the times we have battled to keep it up right in the microwave."
Hannah, 24, told the M.E.N's Manchester Family Facebook page : "I posted it because I wanted to make others aware of it. If I ever get a useful tip I share it to my friends and family.
"I've been super surprised by the reaction to it and didn’t expect it at all."
