Mum shares 'brilliant' pocket money hack but not all parents are convinced

One carer has shared details of a pocket money hack they use to incentivise their children to do household chores, but not all parents are convinced.

In their home, they have a cork board on which a series of small plastic bags are hung — each of these contains the name of a chore and a small sum of money.

When their children complete a certain task on the board, they will receive the money in the corresponding bag as a reward.

The woman shared a photo of her board on the cleaning tips and tricks Facebook group, writing: "If they want it, they have to earn it".

The post has since received almost 7,000 likes and more than 2,100 comments — with other parents and carers eager to share their thoughts.

"I think this is a great idea, not sure what ages they are but visual instructions are always best," one wrote.

A second said: "This is how my sister & I earned our pocket money before we could get jobs. My folks house was always spotless"

A third commented: "Ohhh now this sounds good to do! They might actually feel more motivated to help if they actually see the money!"

Another shared: "Great idea! They can almost smell the rewards".

"This is a brilliant idea," a fifth simply stated.

Some Facebook users even suggested other rewards instead of money.

One said: "Love it! I pay mine in minutes for screen time!"

"I sorta do same thing but they earn screen time," a second commented.

Some people said the money being offered was far too little (Cleaning tips and tricks)

However, not all members of the group were a fan — with some suggesting that the money the original poster was offering was far too little.

One user stated: "Great idea but that’s really cheap these days a sweet costs £1 . I think I would of done 50p each job or a £1 "

"Excellent idea but my daughter would say it’s not worth it," a second revealed.

Another agreed: "Love this idea, but as a cleaner by profession they’re deffo getting mugged off".

"Good idea but I think I’d have to give them a bit more….They wouldn’t be able to buy much with that," responded a fourth.
