Mum shares 'amazing' M&S school uniform hack that leaves shoppers baffled

Buying a crisp new school uniform at the start of the school year is a tradition for many families.

But as the little ones
turn into -not-so-little ones with growth spurts seemingly overnight, it can be struggle.

But one mum has shared a hack that M&S offer with their school uniform.

Posting the find on Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, one mum shared her joy as she noticed M&S's school uniform comes with hidden extra length to tackle the growth spurts.

Posting photos of the labels, she wrote: "I don't know why it has taken me this long to notice this. I always get M&S school pants too but how fab is this!!

"I've just checked the boys old pants too and they all have them, which is a bit annoying because I bought new ones when they didn't fit BUTTTTT fantastic for next year!"

On the label clipped onto the school trousers, it says, 'Growth-proof hems. Just unpick and press for an extra 3cm so they last all year.'

The post quickly gathered 1.9k comments and 4.5k likes with many praising M&S for this handy hack.

One shopper also added: "Asda do a longer length trouser just in case anyone is looking for slightly longer leg but same waist."

"I did this last year for my son thank goodness as he grew 5 inches in lockdown!" Another said.

One shopper wants the nifty trick to be extended to the women's range. "Do they do this on women’s trousers round the waist for over winter periods? Asking for a friend."

But some customers were confused by the label, many misread the word 'grow' and questioned the purpose.

"I thought that said ‘crow proof’ & wondered if birds attacking your ankles was common enough to bother to do something about." One confused woman said.

"Glasses in car and thought it said crow proof….mind went into overdrive."

"Honestly though it said CROW proof hems and I was like since when were crows a problem?" A third commented.

One shopper said: "I was excited because I thought it said “crow proof” and imagined crows pecking at the bottoms and slipping off."

But Edinburgh Live went into M&S and can confirm it is definitely 'Grow-proof' and the hems will be helpful for the kids' longer legs as well as the parent's pockets.
