Mum set for 'new adventure' as she leaves market stall of 20 years

A mum is leaving her market stall of 20 years as she looks for a new challenge.

Linda Hagan, from Prescot, has been working as a barber in Merseyside for more than 30 years, having taken up the trade just after leaving school. Now the 47-year-old is preparing to move from her home of two decades, as she leaves St Mary's Market in St Helens.

Having opened up Linda's Barbers at the age of 27, mum-of-two Linda says she has made many regular customers over the years- but feels that the time is now right to make the move.

She told the ECHO: "I've had this stall since I was 27 and I love coming here everyday meeting new customers and regular customers- both old and young.

"I've been working as a barber for 31 years now, in Page Moss, Huyton, and Liverpool before getting the stall in St Helens."

Despite loving the location of her stall, Linda, who now lives in Widnes, claimed that the market has become quieter over the past few years, leading her and her daughter Megan, who also works at the barbers, to look for a new location.

Linda added: "The market has been getting quieter and quieter over the last few years so me and my daughter decided to buy our own shop on George Street. We've been building it up and now I've decided to go full time at the new shop and close the stall on St Mary's."

Linda and Megan are looking forward to their new challenge, but say they will miss their customers from St Mary's. Linda explained: "It's bittersweet, I'm sad to leave the stall but it's a new challenge for us to take on. I hope all my lovely customers will come with me on the new adventure."

Linda's last day on the market will be April 6, before moving to the new shop on George Street on April 7. She added: "I'm very excited, I can't wait for my new adventure."
