Mum scared water will burst into her 'home from hell' as noise is so loud

A mum claims she is so petrified water will burst through her walls after hearing constant banging for months.

Keyya Attard lives with her daughter, nine, in a housing association home in Croydon and has been complaining since August about the banging sounds inside their flat.

The 28-year-old said: “I’ve had no sleep for more than four weeks now, I am phone to housing three or four times a day. I am in danger, there is water hammering in the walls – I’m really worried.”

Housing association Clarion says it has sent out teams to investigate the issue and has cut a hole into the wall but cannot find the cause of the noise.

Ms Attard told My London that the noises overnight have got so bad she is sometimes only able to get three hours sleep a night, which has now affected her daughter’s school attendance.

She said: “I am not getting enough sleep and I am stressed because of the banging, I am begging for them to stop the banging or put me in temporary accommodation.

"I feel like I am going to have a mental breakdown. It is gradually getting worse, my walls and ceilings are beginning to crumble, I am petrified that a wall is going to burst.”

The mum and daughter have lived in the property for the past four years and Keyya claims that there have been problems with leaks in the past.

She said: “I think there is a general plumbing problem here. There is a neighbour above me that has witnessed the banging. She was worried for her safety and called the fire brigade.”

The mum said while Clarion has sent out teams to look at the problem, nothing so far has worked.

A Clarion spokesman said: “We are aware of Ms Attard’s complaint and our operatives have visited her property on several occasions to carry out extensive investigations, including an intrusive check of the wall in question, but found no causes for the noise that the resident has been experiencing.

“Our operatives have also visited the flat upstairs in the hope of finding the source of the noise but nothing was found.

"We will continue to work with the resident to find a resolution so that she and her family can feel as comfortable as possible in their home.”
