Mum says teenage daughter who burnt legs in 'freak accident' died 24 hours later

A 'bubbly and beautiful' teenager has died the day after she burnt her legs in a 'freak accident', her mum has said.

Tragic Alana Lynch was rushed to hospital but she contracted sepsis and passed away 24 hours after the accident on Monday.

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to the 16-year-old from Dundee, following her death from the deadly infection, the Daily Record reports.

Alana's heartbroken mum Kim Lynch and devastated school pals at Grove Academy , where she a pupil, have taken to social media to pay tribute following her untimely death.

Kim wrote on Facebook: "Just thought I'd clear a few things up about Alana I'm sure many people want answers.

"Most people have been told about the "tragic accident" but with a lot of people being aware of Alana's mental health I thought I'd explain.

"Alana got bad burns on her legs and ended up with sepsis.

"It all happened in less than 24 hours and is extremely tragic just didn't want people getting the wrong idea or to be thinking they could have done more.

"Hope this puts a few minds at rest and thank you for all the love and support everyone has sent over."

A local karate club that the tragic teen's sister attends shared a support link for the family.

Kanzen Karate wrote online: "We were very saddened to hear of the sudden passing of 16 Year old Alana Lynch on Monday 14th December.

"Sister of former squad member Anya and daughter of Kim, our thoughts are with the entire family.

"Losing a loved one is incredibly difficult, words cannot express what the family are going through.

"We have organised some sessions in the morning of Christmas Eve to raise funds for the Lynch family in order to help with costs.

"Your attendance and support would be very much appreciated. Costs are £5 per session (or more if you wish) and please book your place by emailing royokane@kanzenkarate.net

"You can also donate using our Paypal account here (putting ‘Lynch Family’ in the reference)"

Pal Amanda Dunn shared the post on Facebook and paid a heart-wrenching tribute to a "beautiful young lady".

She wrote: "So sad to hear this news about Alana.

"Beautiful young lady at only 16 passed away yesterday. Can’t even start to think about how the family are right now.

"Such a bubbly personality and beautiful in every way.

"This page is from Leah’s karate as her club is raising money to help the family with the costs at this sad time. Please share and give if you can.

"Rip Alana. Thinking of everyone."

Leah Dunn wrote: "A friend of mine, Alana suddenly and unexpectedly passed away yesterday.

"I can’t imagine how her family are feeling at this sad time.

"If you are able to donate anything to help the family please do."
