Mum saves money by tricking daughter into eating meat

A "genius" mum has shared a hack that saves her money while tricking her daughter into eating a different type of meat.

With many of us trying to save pennies where we can as the cost of living soars, one woman has found a way to save upwards of £2 each time she purchases meat for her child's sandwiches. The hack received hundreds of comments and likes after being posted in a Facebook group entitled "Feed your family on a budget".

The savvy mum said: "My daughter loves Billy Bear ham or the Minions/Paw Patrol version of it, but I hate paying the price (£1+) for 7 slices and it only does 3 sandwiches.

"We've swapped to this luncheon meat from Morrisons. She says it tastes the same, I just told her that it's cheaper because they forgot to print Billy's face on it [shush face emoji]. It's 79p for 20 slices."

Billy Bear Slices are currently on sale at Morrisons for £1.09 a packet, meaning it would cost the mum £3.27 to get 21 slices. The pork luncheon meat offers her a saving of £2.32 per 20 slices. Many other budgeting parents were quick to comment on the idea.

One mum said: "I bet you could even get molds to imprint the character on it too. But it sounds like she’s ok with it. That’s great. I use lunch meats in my salads all the time. Sometimes it’s the cheapest way to go." Another said: "I think you might be a genius."

A third mum added: "Wonder if the husband will fall for this. 43 [and I] still buy him two packs of billy bear a week ffs x". And a fourth replied: "My ex husband wouldn't eat plain label anything. So I kept all the named packaging and transferred the no name produce over..... he never knew."
