Mum's two-second 'game-changing' trick to stop kids dropping their ice lollies

It's no secret that children are messy little creatures - they spill drinks and drop their food on a regular basis.

Ice lollies and ice creams often end up on the floor as little ones struggle to keep hold of the wooden stick.

But this doesn't have to be such a problem for much longer, thanks to one mum.

Lisa Larner shared her top tip for preventing children from making a mess with their icy treats - and all you need is one thing, which you might already have in your kitchen drawer.

The trick uses a plastic food clip/peg, the kind that is used to seal packets and keep things fresh.

Posting on the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, the mum explained how she simply fastens the clip across the ice lolly stick, so the kids can grip on to either side of it.

She wrote: "For all those with children who are at an age where holding an ice lolly stick is difficult.

"Use a sandwich bag clip on the stick... allows them to grip with both hands.

"Prevents tears from dropped lollies."

Genius!

Many fellow parents also thought it was a very clever little hack, with hundreds liking the post and praising her in the commnets.

One person replied: "That's a good idea."

Another said the trick was "game-changing".

Someone else wrote: "Brilliant idea!"

A different user added: ""Genius, I hate the feel of a lolly stick, I have to cover it with the wrapper!"

Others also suggested using clothes pegs if you didn't have food clips, as well as putting a plastic lid from a drink on the lolly stick to catch any drips.
