Mum's supermarket blunder sees pram posted on Facebook after she 'put it in the boot'

A mum thought her £1,000 pram was in the boot of her car until she spotted it in a Facebook group.

Kate Stedford, from Wallasey, said she had had one of her typical busy mornings running errands when she saw a very familiar looking picture on social media.

The 39-year-old said she was waiting to pick up her mum and had a few minutes to scroll on her phone.

She said: "I was just looking and then this post came up in Crimewatch Wirral and I thought 'wait, is that my pram?'.

"I really looked at it, because I was sure my pram was in the boot of the car.

"But then I saw the toy on the side and the oat milk in the bottom and knew it was mine."

Kate said she had left the pram after shopping at Morrisons in a scenario many mums will identify with.

She said: "I had just been to a baby class with Eliott, who is seven months, and I had to pick up bits for my older son's birthday [Issac turns four on June 24].

"I remember having to put the baby in the car and all the shopping in the boot and my husband, Dane, called me so I was basically being harassed, as usual.

"I must have just drove off and left it behind."

Kate said when she got home she put all the shopping in and didn't notice the Bugaboo pram was missing as she normally leaves it in the boot anyway.

She said: "Thank god I am in that Facebook group or I would have never known where it was.

"And I am so thankful to the lovely lady who spotted it and kept hold of it.

"Prams are so expensive, this one cost us £1,000 when we bought it - luckily this is its second use after Issac."

Kate said while she felt a little embarrassed, she was overwhelmed by how many people had commented on the Facebook post saying they had done something similar.

With the pram now safely back in her boot, Kate added: "At least I didn't leave the baby in there too."

One person told Kate in the Facebook comments: "You're not the only one, I’ve done this in the past."

Another said: "Lucky you saw this before you started searching house wondering where it had gone."

Another mum said: "'I've done it a couple of times, once I didn't even realise until I was at a hospital appointment and I opened the boot after parking to find it empty."

And another mum even said they left their baby in the pram at a playground before quickly darting back.
