Mum's simple money-saving home cooking trick sparks frenzy with other parents

Everybody loves a money-saving tip.

Occasionally, one will come along which will spark a frenzy with others.

Frugal parents looking to shave money off their grocery bill have recently vowed to follow one money-savvy mum's home cooking tip.

She's managed to reduce her shopping by making one simple change - making her own butter.

This may sound like a lot of toil, but as Sarah Gayton-Kay reveals, it's actually pretty straightforward.

And if you have a growing, hungry family then the savings could very well be worth it.

Sarah posted her recipe in the  Mums Who Budget & Save   Facebook page, adding she was extremely "chuffed" with her home made butter.

She revealed all that was needed was some pure cream, a mixer and just 15-minutes to get it all whipped into butter.

All the recipe required was three litres of cream to make a whopping 1.3kg of butter, which is over four times the size of your average supermarket-bought block.

The cream set her back the equivalent of £1.70.

"To make butter, you just keep whipping cream until it splits into butter and buttermilk," Sarah instructs.

'Broken' mum admits she doesn't love adopted daughter as much as biological one

The splitting will occur after approximately 15-minutes in the mixer.

"You then need to rinse the butter, to make sure all of the buttermilk is gone, and then you can add salt if desired," she said.

A growing number of parents have since picked up on Sarah's tip.

"I never thought to do this! This is great," one woman wrote.

Another revealed she tried out the recipe "after reading this post" and, to her delight, her butter turned out soft and spreadable.
