Mum's plea as she is locked out of daughter's Instagram after fatal tunnel crash

The mum of tragic Birkenhead Tunnel crash victim Paige Rice said she was "heartbroken" after being locked out of her late daughter's Instagram account.

Clare Rice is calling on the social media giant to reinstate her access to daughter Paige's account to avoid losing precious memories. Ms Rice said in a tweet that the account has pictures, videos and voice notes of Paige who was killed in a high speed tunnel crash. They could be lost forever, if she fails to log back in.

Manchester City footballer Jack Grealish has supported the plea by retweeting Ms Rice, therefore bringing more attention to her plight. Ms Rice's tweet has now been shared hundreds of times.

The mum, from Marston Green, Solihull, tweeted yesterday: "I lost my daughter in October. I had access to her Insta as she was logged in on my phone. Today I’ve been logged out, and her page has been memorialised.

"Instagram, is there any way I can get this back? I'm heartbroken as have so much on there. Pictures, videos, voice notes."

Ms Rice told BirminghamLive that she is yet to gain access. She said: "I’ve had an email today off Instagram, but doesn’t make much sense to me. They didn’t answer anything, and are asking me to send face ID of the account holder."

Nail technician Paige, 22, was tragically killed in a 98mph head on collision in the Queensway tunnel. She was being driven by her ex-partner Callum Miller, who struck two cars before "losing control" and crashing into a taxi.

Paige was the passenger in the Audi S3 when it crashed in the early hours of Sunday, October 17 last year. Paige sadly died hours later in hospital, while Callum, a 27-year-old labourer from Stockport, was kept on life support before his death the following day. The taxi driver suffered life-changing injuries.

It is believed Paige was planning a night out in Liverpool for her birthday and was in the city to make arrangements.

At an inquest held earlier this year, senior coroner Andre Rebello explained he could not legally attribute blame to any party in the collision and was required, under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009, to reach a conclusion of death by road traffic collision in each case.
