Mum's nightmare after daughter slices leg open on broken glass at Bray Bandstand

A Wicklow mum has spoken of her terror after her daughter cut her leg on a piece of broken glass.

Siobhan (names changed on request) said her partner and their four-year-old daughter Laura were out on a walk when she fell down by the Bray Bandstand on Sunday evening.

She told Dublin Live: "Laura got up and said her leg felt sore. My partner noticed that her trousers were ripped. He looked on the ground and there was a piece of glass with blood on it. "

She said blood was flowing from Laura's leg which prompted her partner to ring Siobhan's dad who advised them to take her to hospital.

She said: "He brought her to Tallaght Hospital and there were in there for a good five to six hours.

"They had to numb her legs. She wouldn't let them stitch her up because she was so frightened and it was sore.

"They had to cut the trousers off her and they had to glue her leg and she's bandaged up."

Siobhan said they were lucky it wasn't a needle but the incident had traumatised Laura so much that she didn't sleep that night.

She added: "Even now she's able to walk on her leg but she's scared to do it.

"I work down the beach and I asked after work if she wanted to go for a walk and usually she'd be running for it.

"But now she won't go near the beach or the playground."
