Forget clichés about candlelit dinners and red roses, romance comes in all shapes and sizes .
A DIY wall display built to show off a mug collection can have just as much clout as a velvet box with something sparkly inside.
Just ask US teen Ana Stanowick, who recently showed her public approval of her mum's new boyfriend.
According to Ana, her mum Jodi has been an avid collector of novelty mugs for years. These range from frog mugs to Christmas and Harry Potter-themed ones.
Jodi's collection now stands at least 50 mugs, and apparently Ana's dad (who is now divorced from Jodi) wasn't a fan.
New boyfriend Brad Davis, however, knows that the way to a woman and her daughter's heart is through a bespoke shelving unit.
So impressed was Ana, that she took to Twitter to share a photo - and an important lesson.
"My dad used to get so mad every time my mum would come home w a new coffee mug (she likes to collect them) and her new bf literally built her a wall to display her collection," she wrote.
"This is why we don’t settle for loser boys, ladies!"
Ana's tweet even prompted others to share their similar tales.
Gallant Brad has no problem with the mugs, and, having recently moved in with Jodi, the display was all his idea. What a guy!
Today's lesson? Everyone deserves a Brad.
