Mum's 'magic' blue breast milk leaves parents awe-struck - and anti-vaxxers angry

After Jodie Fisher took her one-year-old daughter, Nancy, to be vaccinated , she noticed something about her breastmilk.

The day before the mum-of-four had expressed a bottle which was of a normal colour and consistency.

Following young Nancy's immunisations, however, Jodie spotted something interesting as she filled up another bottle.

Her breastmilk had turned a lovely shade of duck egg blue.

Initially, Jodie was shocked and concerned. However, following some research, she realised what had happened - and was awed by what her body had managed to do.

As it turned out, the discolouration was no cause for concern.

Sharing her discovery on Facebook , Jodie explained: "Its blue from all the antibodies my body is producing, as it thinks she’s sick with what she was vaccinated against.

"When she feeds, her saliva sends signals to my body to produce more milk with illness-specific antibodies."

The mum shared the photo as she wanted to demonstrate "what women’s bodies can do when their children are poorly".

It quickly got a lot of attention, with fans of the post saying "mummies are magical".

While the majority of comments were of an awe-struck nature, some people did quesion why her milk had turned blue, of all colours.

Jodie later added: "My milk isn't this colour from what I've eaten, I have not had anything artificially coloured, no supplements and no green vegetables.

"It's never been (blue) when she's been well."

Jodie's post was used on The Unconventional Parent, an anti-vaccination Facebook page, but this seems to have missed the point.

As Jodie herself said: "This goes to show the vaccines are doing exactly what they are meant to do, and so is my daughter's body and mine.

"The whole point of vaccinations is to introduce a very, very weakened version of the virus or disease you want immunity from.

"This in turn makes your body think you have already had the virus or disease so you won't get a more deadly, real version in the future."
