Mum's long Covid symptoms 'disappear' after vaccine for first time in months

A mum suffering from long Covid for almost a year claims her symptoms suddenly disappeared after getting her vaccine.

Tara Richardson, 45, had been suffering from fatigue, severe headaches and loss of smell for almost a year after being admitted to hospital with coronavirus.

After receiving the jab two weeks ago, she initially felt the side effects associated with the vaccine before her long Covid symptoms miraculously vanished, reports the Mirror.

The top music manager, who has worked with Snow Patrol and currently looks after Murder Capital, said within hours of getting the AstraZeneca vaccine she began to feel herself again. This included regaining her sense of smell.

Speaking to the Irish Sunday Mirror, she told how she first realised her symptoms had gone when her puppy jumped up onto her bed.

The mum-of-two, who lives in London but whose family are from Dublin, said: “Two weeks ago I got my text to go and get my Covid jab.

“I felt a bit rubbish a few hours after I got it.

“The next morning though my puppy came into my room and jumped up onto my bed and I was like, ‘oh my he stinks’ and then I realised I could smell properly again.

“I didn’t lose my sense of smell with Covid. I could still smell, but just not properly. It’s now back to normal.

“As the day went on, I also realised I hadn’t got any aches or pains either. My long Covid since the jab hasn’t returned.”

Tara was admitted to hospital with Covid after a tour in Europe in late 2019.

She said: “They said at the time it was just a virus and there was nothing they could do about it.

“On March 15, I got it again and had a banging headache, was aching all over and had extreme fatigue. I just couldn’t move.

“I thought it was jet lag but it turned out to be Covid again.

“I read this thing about long Covid in August and I was just like ‘that’s me’.

“I couldn’t do anything. By the time it got to 2pm, I couldn’t move off the sofa and the body aches were unbearable.”

Tara's symptoms have since disappeared and she is back to her normal self.
