Mum's incredible hack to stop her children waking up too early

Making sure your child gets a good night's sleep can be a difficult task for any parent.

But mum Megan Gough has come up with a genius hack to stop kids from getting up too early - and it all involves an Ikea clock.

She wanted her to teach her three-year-old about telling the time, and when it is ok to wake up adults, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Megan bought a clock from Ikea and coloured in different sections, making it easier for her daughter to tell the time.

Before half six is the red zone, meaning it is not time to get up.

Between half six and 7am is the yellow zone, meaning she can get up and play quietly in her room.

From 7am onwards, the green zone means she can wake up her parents.

Sharing a picture of her creation in a mum's Facebook group, Megan, said: "If anyone's going to be struggling with light mornings, this was a plain clock from Ikea, my 3-year-old now knows when to get up. Green is good to go."

Speaking to the M.E.N's  Manchester Family , she added: "So she gets up when the glittery hand is in green, if she's awake in yellow, she can play quietly in her room but not in my room and red is back to bed.

"She is really quite good, just the odd problem like waking me up at 1.30am because 'I have no socks on'. Ha! But she does look for daylight to get up and I anticipate a problem with summer coming."
