A teacher has shared her shock after opening a lovingly-wrapped present from a pupil - only to find diamond earrings inside.
The stunned educator said she was given the gift years ago but still remembers it to this day, and who can blame her considering the circumstances?
The instructor used to teach eight-year-olds, and it was one of these pupils who went above and beyond to surprise her.
"One morning a very sweet, sensitive-type, little boy proudly presented me with a small gift box that he had obviously taken great care to wrap and decorate," she recalled in a post to Quora.

"He insisted that I open it right away. I was shocked to open the box and find a very large pair of diamond earrings that appeared to be set in platinum."
The jewellery lover went on to explain she was confident the earrings were the real deal, so she hatched a plan.
Not wanting to embarrass the youngster, who was not the 'type of kid who would maliciously steal from his mother', she accepted the gift. But as soon as lunchtime rolled around, she called the boy's parents.
"On my lunch break, I called his mom and explained the situation. She was a realtor and worked near the school. She dropped by and confirmed that those were her diamond earrings, and I, of course, returned them to her. She told me she would handle it gently at home."
But the story did not end there. The mum helped her son pick out a sweet gift for his teacher once she was clued up on his plan, and the next day he presented her with an angel figurine. "He picked the angel 'to protect me from the bad kids','' the teacher claimed.
She added: "This story happened back in the early '90s! This 'little boy' is now an adult with two sons of his own! I actually ran into him a few years ago, at a restaurant in the town that I used to teach in. He's still sweet and shy."
The post has since gained over seven million views and hundreds of shares from delighted readers. One person praised: "Nicely handled by both you and the mom. Love it!"
"Applause all around for you, the kid, and his Mom," agreed a second. Someone added: "Teachers are the best and leave such a memorable impact on so many of us!"
