Mum's 'horror' as dummies from Amazon turn up used with 'bite marks'

A mum is livid after dummies she ordered for her toddler showed up used - there was bite marks and even a bit of material hanging off them. Lindsey Macrae, 30, from Glasgow, ordered the products from Amazon as brand new but was given quite the nasty shock when they showed up.

The mum was even worried about health and safety after noticing there was a bit of material hanging off a dummy which could have caused her two-year-old daughter, Aria, to choke. Amazon have since contacted her to refund the item and give her a gift voucher.

She said: "I was utterly stunned. I felt so sick and horrified. They haven't just been used once or twice - but for weeks and weeks and weeks. They're completely chewed and I can see spit bubbles in them. They smell of another baby's mouth.

"What if I hadn't noticed and she'd put one in her mouth - she could have caught a bug or anything. One of them has a huge flap hanging off the teat that could have gone in her throat and choked her.

"I just can't imagine how this has happened at all."

Lindsey tried to get through to Amazon customer services three times before someone finally spoke to her. This left her even more seething.

The company has since apologised, refunded her the £6.85 and offered her £5 credit. However, the mum was not satisfied with the outcome.

She said: "It's absolutely shocking. They didn't even try to explain or defend it.

"He just didn't understand how serious this is.

"I've had a broken mop bucket arrive before, which is fine, you just get a new one.

"But this is completely different and potentially much more dangerous: this isn't a mistake you can afford to make."

A spokesperson for Amazon said: "We have apologised to the customer, refunded her for the product, and offered a gift card as a gesture of goodwill."

It's understood Lindsey was given a £25 gift token after her complaint was raised.
