The parenting expert went on to compare the family's home to a prison and criticised the pair for "spying" on people.

"Your need for control, Crystal, is stifling," she said.

"The surveillance cameras in the bedrooms? I mean, they don’t even have them in cells in prisons.

"Even I went down to have a private conversation with the children, and you actually took it upon yourself to spy on me.

"As a professional, you invaded my space, and my privacy."

Crystal, who is a stay at home mum, agreed that she shouldn't have listened in on Jo's chat with nine-year-old Keenan and Delaney, seven.

The Supernanny went on to recommend that the parents stop watching their kids' every move and instead try to "connect" with them emotionally.

"You would learn so much more if you actually connected with the kids and heard their stories," she said.

Eventually Jeff decided to take down the cameras in the house leaving crystal questioning her extreme parenting methods.

She said: "It's hard to look at yourself and realise your own faults and I didn't realise how much I'm trying to control here.

"I'm excited to learn to let go of some things, just so everyone can feel a little bit more lighter around here."
