Mum's hilarious text to teen daughter about sharing hotel room with boyfriend

When it comes to parents, they're always going to be a tad overprotective of their children - no matter how old they may get.

One 18-year-old found this out the hard way, while enjoying a night away with her boyfriend, to see comedian Frankie Boyle.

The teen, named Caitlin, was so excited about her evening in a hotel that she sent her mum Jeananne a snap of the Premier Inn room as soon as she got there.

But Jeananne wasn't quite as impressed with the bedroom situation as her daughter.

The mum quickly replied to Caitlin, enquiring as to why there was only one bed - as it meant one of them would have to sleep elsewhere.

She replied to the photo, saying: "Shame Dean has to sleep on the couch. At least it's not the floor. Told you to make sure it was a twin."

Her daughter shared a screenshot of her mum's text on Twitter , where it quickly went viral.

She captioned the post: "Night in Edinburgh with my boyfriend and my mum thinks I'm still 12."

The funny tweet quickly garnered over 40,000 likes and around 2,000 retweets.

Jeananne was said to be shocked by the response to her text message.

Caitlin was also pretty surprised by the whole thing, saying she just thought a few of her pals would like the post.

She added that her mum was only joking about the sleeping arrangements.

"Basically my mum was having a laugh before we went, about making sure it was two beds and after sending her a picture of the room she continued to make a joke about how it was only one.

"She never thought it would be as funny as it's turned out to be.

"She's very modest but I think secretly she's loving the attention it's getting " said the teen.
