The mother of a young woman who vanished after a night out has spoken of her heartbreak as police begin searching a river.
Lexi Carmichael, 21, disappeared after leaving the Counting House near George Square in Glasgow shortly after 11pm on Wednesday night.
She was last seen on St. Vincent Place at 11.05pm before disappearing, reports the Daily Record.
Police have now started searching the River Clyde.
Her mum Petula has today posted on Facebook that her 'gorgeous girl has gone' as she revealed that the family have been left devastated by Lexi's disappearnce.
Petula wrote: "Our world has fell apart ... our gorgeous girl has gone and we are devastated. No words can describe the pain we are in."
Lexi is described as 5ft11in tall, with a slim build and dark brown hair.
She was wearing a black and white top with a flower on the front, black trousers and black and white trainers when she disappeared.
Petula earlier shared an online appeal to help find her daughter.
Writing on Facebook on Friday morning, she said: "Has anyone seen my daughter Lexi Carmichael last seen at counting house back of 11 last night....Please get in touch if any information....."

Police confirmed that they are searching the river for Lexi but said they are still currently treating her as a missing person.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Lexi Carmichael is still a missing person and our enquiries are ongoing.
"One line of enquiry is searching the River Clyde as part of the operation.
"You can pass on information by calling 101, quoting reference 3987 of 11 December."
