The mum of a British teen who died in a car crash in Malia told her son 'stay safe and come home in one piece' before he went on the holiday.
Luke Hall, 18, of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, died alongside Zara Crane Davies, 41, in a Jeep crash in Malia on Monday morning.
Louise Waddington, 39, who was also travelling in the 4x4 at the time, was seriously injured in the smash and is now fighting for her life in hospital.
Another passenger, an 18-year-old male, escaped unhurt.
Luke's mum, Anne, 46, has reportedly flown out to the Greek party resort with her son's gran in order to collect his body.
In a Facebook message, posted just before Luke left for Malia, Anne wrote: "Have an amazing time in Malia Luke Hall. Please stay safe and come home in one piece (praying and heart emojis) xxx"
The apprentice builder's dad, Tom, told The Sun : "His twin Jacob is lost, he’s broken, he’s sobbing constantly."
The heartbroken father described his boy as 'a fantastic lad - the best ever'.
The newspaper reports that Luke was on the second week of his first trip abroad without his mum, dad or twin.
Three of his mates who also travelled to Crete were not in the Jeep with him at the time of the crash, reports say.
The two women involved in the smash were reportedly friends on holiday together who had met the two young men during a night out.
A police official told the Times: “The car overturned as the 41-year-old female, the driver, hit a kerb, sending her crashing into a wall.
“She then rammed into a parked motorcycle and in her bid to regain control of the car steered it into the opposite lane, hitting another kerb that tipped the car into an empty field.”
Reports from the island said the incident was filmed by a traffic camera that showed the red Kia flipping over after the initial collision.
Luke was apparently standing in the rear of the vehicle, singing and dancing as it drove west from Malia towards Stalida, the officer said.
