Mum's hack to avoid toy tantrums in the supermarket is hailed as 'genius'

A mum has come up with a savvy solution to toy tantrums in shops and supermarkets - and the internet is calling it genius.

The mum says she has found the answer to every parent's nightmare scenario when their children have a meltdown every time they go to the shops that sell toys.

Taking to Facebook, Kristina Watts shared her "most amazing parenting hack ever" which sees her simply taking a picture of the desired toys.

She says: "If you aren't using this hack... listen up friends.

"Our trips to the store used to be a lot more painful this time of year. Toys are out in full force... and of course my kids WANT IT ALL.

"Obviously, I would love to have sweet, well mannered, non-greedy, chill kids, that don't ask for all the things... but I don't.

"So drop your judgement Karen, and stop reading if you have kids like that. Now, if you have kids like mine that want the shiny amazing things that fill Target, the grocery store, Office Depot, the gas station, and pretty much everywhere you go this time of year, this is for you.

"What is it?! Take a picture. It's that simple," writes The Mirror.

The Washington, US, mum explains she will simply take a picture of her daughter holding her desired toy and then tells her she will 'send it to Santa' so he knows what she wants.

Instead she sends the photo to her child's grandmother, aunt or whoever else will be buying a gift.

The mum says the tip has worked every time, with her daughter smiling and asking to see the photo before putting down the toy and walking away.

Kristina adds: "It's magical. No tears. No tantrums (by either of us). And she forgets about all of them within minutes.

"Maybe you've been doing this for ages, and you selfishly didn't share this tip with me...or maybe you're like me and this is about to rock your world. For real, try it friends. You're welcome."

Originally shared back in 2019, Kristina's post is still doing the rounds online today and has since garnered 45,000 likes.

Many parents commented on how much they loved the hack, with one replying: "Omg. I need to start doing this!! That's how my kid is too. WANTS. ALL. THE. THINGS."

A second said: "I do it all the time and my son is now six. Works like a charm."

Someone else branded it "genius".

While another mum added her own additional trick to stop the tantrums at home too, saying she sits with them at the computer as they pick what they want online.

Each toy they select, she takes a screenshot and tells her children she'll send everything they choose to Santa to have a look through at the North Pole.
