Mum's genius idea to stop kids snacking while home schooling

A mum-of-two has come up with a genius idea to stop her boys from snacking too much while they are being home schooled.

This week, many parents have become teachers to their children after all schools were closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Mums and dads coming up with inventive ways to hold their children's attention including one mum who has come with a brilliant hack to stop her kids snacking all the time while they are at home.

Laura Wade, who is mum to Rory, 6 and three-year-old Walt, thought of the idea as a way of keeping tabs on how much they are snacking on.

The 34-year-old from Burscough in West Lancashire, told the ECHO: "In a bid to control the boys constant want to snack, my husband Carl and I have set up a tuck shop for the boys.

"Each day they will be given £1 to spend and will have to work out how much change they need from their purchase and how much money they have left to spend.

Laura, who works as a wedding photographer, said that she was amazed at how well it was working to limit the amount her boys graze on.

She added: "It has honestly worked amazingly. The boys have been following the rules without argument so far. We have adapted it slightly in that the shop does not open until 10am when it is filled with only healthy snacks and no treats.

"The shop then opens again at 2pm when it has treats in addition to the healthy snacks."
