Mum's Elf on the Shelf snow idea backfires and she is left unable to clean up thousands of beanbag balls

A mum was left red-faced after her extravagant Elf on the Shelf prank backfired.

The mum decided to surprise her daughter by having her elves make snow angles in her bedroom.

In order to get the most realistic effective snow the brave mum decided to empty beanbag balls all over the bedroom floor.

While the 'snow' was effective, the hapless mum did not think about the major clear up operation afterwards.

Posting on Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It Facebook page, the beleaguered mum pleaded for clean up help.

She said: "So we thought it was a great idea for the pesky elves to make it snow. Snow is the little balls you find in bean bags.

"2.5 bags in and we're still nowhere near tidying. I have a Henry hoover with a detachable bag, any of you lovely lot have any suggestions of a way I can use Henry to quickly and efficiently tidy this up. not sure if a carrier bag on the nossle will melt in the heat or what, Thank you!!!"

The 'elves' decided it would 'snow' in the child's room (Facebook)

While some mums loved the idea, others said they had fallen foul of beanbag spillages before. One mum even shared a picture.

She said: "My little girl emptied a bean bag all over her bedroom. Took me hours to clean up n was still finding them a year later. I wanted to cry. Good luck x"

Another mum shared a beanbag mishap of her own (Facebook)

Another added: "Just so you know, my kids emptied out one of these a year ago. And I'm still finding them. And we've moved house since."

Others told the mum not to hoover up the balls because they would break her vacuum.

One said: "I broke my Henry hoover hoovering these up! They went into the electrical mechanism."

One mum was thankful her elf did not perform such elaborate tricks, saying: "Sooo pleased my child is scared sh**less of the creepy elf it just gets to sit there and not move."

Elf on the Shelf is, quite frankly, one Christmas irritant too far (Internet Unknown)

Another mum was aghast that the mum had even subjected herself to the mess.

She said: "Why would you willing pour these around your home they get everywhere!"

Wow I just couldn't my OCD would kill me

Are you ok? Like I think you need a little more help than just clearing them up
