Mum's desperate plea after young son robbed at knifepoint in Leeds

A 13-year-old boy was robbed at knifepoint in Leeds by two teenagers.

The boy was confronted by the thieves behind One Stop Armley in Whingate Road, at around 2.30pm on Friday, April 17.

Speaking anonymously, the boy's mother said: "Two Romanian lads offered to buy the expensive bike for £100 my son said no, so they held a knife to him and took the bike off him.

"One of them held the knife just above my son's groin, near his liver.

"My son is shaken but okay."

The robbers are believed to be 14 or 15-years-old.

One of them was seen wearing a black or grey jacket, a light grey tracksuit, trainers and a black cap. The other was seen wearing a Puma tracksuit and had short hair.

They stole a grey Cube mountain bike with black handle bars.

West Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation and the mum is urging witnesses and anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.

According to police figures, people used knives and other sharp weapons to commit 2,030 crimes in the city, including murders, robberies and sexual offences, in 2017 and 2018.

Almost 100 of those offences were committed in Armley.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information that could assist the investigation should contact police on 101.
