Mum's cool idea to stop avocados going brown

Avocados are a delicious and versatile fruit - have it with toast or on salads, it's an added extra to your five-a-day.

However, they are also very frustrating - remaining hard as stone for what feels like a lifetime before turning soft and brown as soon as your ready to eat them.

A savvy mum has shared her very simple process for ensuring her family have perfect avocados all year round.

The founder of the popular Facebook page 'Slow Cooker Recipes & Tips' revealed she found a way to freeze sliced avocados fresh out of the skin, making them easy to use in meals and sandwiches, reports the Mirror.

She said: "This is a little trick I've been doing with avocado."

"I heard that you can buy it frozen, but was never able to find it anywhere. So I thought, 'why not freeze it myself?'.

"It works amazing."

The woman says she cuts the fresh avocado in half and takes the pit out the slices it.

She then lays the fruit on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and follows by freezing it.

She then removes the frozen slices after one day and puts them all into one bag in the freezer.

She says freezing them separately first prevents the pieces of fruit from sticking together and allows her to use it one slice at a time.

The mum says they stay green and she throws them in smoothies or lets them thaw and has them in sandwiches.

Other people who had never considered freezing avocados are loving her trick.

One person on Facebook said: "I had no idea it froze. I hate wasting the left over avocado as no one else eats it in my house."

Another said: "This will change my life! I bought frozen avocado and it was horrible."

A third replied: "This is the solution to my ever squishy avocado issues."
