Mum's 'beyond gross' bathroom debate for other couples divides opinion

Every couple has a different threshold when it comes to what is and is not acceptable to do in front of the other person.

For some anything goes, but for others even the thought of using the toilet with their other half in the same room is enough to make their skin crawl.

But one mum who asked a simple question about bathroom habits sparked a fierce debate as other parents were divided on the issue.

The post on Mumsnet read: "Just spent a productive afternoon discovering the delights of Real Housewives of Dallas and Stephanie's husband bought her a new toothbrush as part of an anniversary present to stop her from using his.

"Am I being unreasonable to think that sharing food debris, plaque and morning mouth grot with your beloved is beyond gross?"

Others said it doesn't bother them 'in the slightest' (stock image) (Getty Images/iStockphoto)

And it didn't stop there - with other users adding they aren't even willing to share a towel with their other half.

Many saw no problem with either, with one replying: "Assuming you wash your toothbrush after use? Is it any worse than kissing/other intimate actions?"

A second said: "It doesn’t bother me in the slightest."

But others said they would never dare to share, with another writing: "No way would I use DH's (dearest husband's) toothbrush and I would be horrified if I ever discovered he’d used mine. Yuck! For some reason I find it utterly revolting."

One agreed, commenting: "No way. That's gross. And I don't use the same towel either. I've seen him floss his butt with the towel."

A second said: "We are minging, we only take one toothbrush to share when we travel. We also once found out we’d both been using the same netted-body-puff-wash-thing for months. We both thought ours was the pink one."

A third replied to say: "See, the toothbrush thing doesn't bother me but I would be horrified if I found out he was using my shower sponge. I'm a massive fuss when it comes to my sponges and body puffs."
